What to Bring to Your Appointment

To ensure an efficient and accurate tax filing, please bring the following items to your appointment:

  • Prior Year Tax Returns: If I did not prepare your tax return last year, please bring a copy of your prior year federal and state returns.

  • Income Documentation: W-2s, 1099s, interest statements, dividend statements, and other income-related documents.

  • Deductions & Credits:

    • Mortgage interest statements (Form 1098), property tax receipts, charitable contributions, and medical expenses.

    • Education expenses (Forms 1098-T or 1098-E) and child care expenses with provider details.

  • Other Documents: Investment income (1099-B), retirement distributions (1099-R), unemployment income (1099-G), or any other relevant tax documents.

  • Use your prior year tax return as a guide to ensure you gather all necessary documents.

Uploading Tax Documents

If you prefer to upload your tax documents before our meeting or want to handle everything via email:

  • Request a secure Dropbox link to upload your files.

  • This option is available for those who prefer not to have an in-person or virtual meeting.

Tax Preparation Fees

  • Base Fee: My fees start at $250 and are determined by the complexity of your tax return.

  • Payment Options: I accept personal checks, cash, Venmo, and Zelle. Payment is required before your tax return is electronically filed.

Tax Filing Process

  • I electronically file tax returns for your convenience.

  • You will receive a hard copy of your tax return for review by mail.

  • Please return a signed and dated copy of the e-file authorization form and engagement letter before filing.

Audit Representation

Tax preparation fees do not include representation in case of an audit. If representation is needed, it will be billed separately.

Turnaround Times

  • January & February: Tax return preparation typically takes no more than one week.

  • March: Preparation time increases to two weeks.

    • Important: I am not accepting appointments after March 28th. Tax information received after that date may result in your return being placed on extension.

Additional Notes

For the fastest service, consider mailing or uploading your documents ahead of time.

If certain forms will arrive late (e.g., in March), send what you have early and follow up with additional documents later.
